Are you excited for judgment day? Because I am! Oh boy, gee willikers, it’s going to be a wonderful day. You’re not afraid of it, are you? I mean, I’d be afraid of it too, I suppose, but I’m just trying to obey the Scriptures.
The Apostle John… remember him? The guy who laid his head on Jesus’ chest. The guy who had the wildest encounter in the history of the world when he wrote the Book of Revelation. Yea, THAT guy. He wrote something kind of funny about judgment day….
“Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the Day of Judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment.” (1 John 4:17-18) So…. We probably shouldn’t fear Judgment Day or fear punishment from God, instead we should be really bold, confident, and excited for Judgment day… just a thought.
Jesus said that we will be rewarded for even giving a cup of water to somebody. (Matthew 10:42) I don’t mean to brag or anything, but I’ve done a lot more than give a cup of water to people! Let’s say, just for argument’s sake, you’ve been slacking and you’ve never given anybody a cup of water. Did you ever give somebody a piece of gum? Did you ever hit “like” on somebody’s Facebook status? According to God’s ridiculously generous standards, that “like” deserves a reward!
All of the Left Behind people are going to be so disappointed with the real Judgment Day! They’re expecting Jesus to bash people’s skulls in and He’s literally going to be giving out prizes to old people who have shared their airplane peanuts with a stranger!
Look, I’m not going to pretend like God is able to do far more than anything we can imagine… wait, that’s a Scripture too, isn’t it? Man, I can’t win with this God guy.
Okay, okay, I got it. I know how bad you want to be afraid of Judgment Day. How about we go to the Book of Revelation (oOoOo *ghost noises* OoOoOo *strange sounds from the attic* OoOoOo).
Wait a minute…. The Book of Revelation has a Gentle and Loving Lamb as its MAIN CHARACTER! DARNIT! THERE REALLY IS NOTHING TO FEAR ON JUDGMENT DAY. The blood on His clothes is His own blood that He lovingly poured out for the sins of the world.
God is going to judge us. He’s going to judge us righteous because of the blood of Jesus. In the meantime, just keep the joyful faith and keep sharing your water, snacks, and Pokémon cards. You will not lose your reward. And you have nothing to fear, even in Judgment Day, according to the Bible at least.
